If you want to explore NYC with a budget, Roomorama is the way to go. It certainly was the answer for me. I wasn’t sure I could afford to stay in NYC for 3- 5 days, and Roomorama came to the rescue. There are a lot of places to stay in and around NYC, but you can’t get a decent double room for only 80$ a night. Well maybe, but not in Manhattan.
The apartment was located in Fort Green, Brooklyn. One bedroom with shared bathroom and kitchen, had a beautiful terrace with a view of the Manhattan. It was a good place to hangout at night. The place was 10 – 15 walk from the subway station, and it only took less than 30 minutes to get to the Manhattan. Brooklyn itself was also quite interesting place to explore, a lot of cool little cares and restaurants were around the neighbourhood. It wasn’t the safest places, since I saw a car with a broken window with the big rock, it’s okay as long as be careful.
Renting an apartment is now certainly a new and a good way to travel. It is more intimate than staying at a national-wise chain hotel. The best part about renting an apartment for me was that I could feel like home. Budget hotels don’t usually have it: fridge, sofa, terrace, and real utensils… Another good point to rent the apartment, or a room of the place is that we don’t need to worry about socializing with the host. If we were staying there for free, it would be rude to in and out at midnight and leave in the early morning. Of course there’s nothing wrong with spending time with the host, but it’s not the mandatory. If you have only limited time in the place, and the big city like NYC, you won’t have time to hang around in the house.
Tips to remember
There’s no check-in counter. Contact the host beforehand to arrange the check-in time, getting the keys.
Find the place on the map before you go. Residence area is not always easy to find. Make sure to see the place on the map and to know how to get there.
Have enough time to finalize the reservation. As a leading apartment renting company, Roomorama is getting more properties around the world. All you have to do is simply find the place you want and book it. But you have to have enough time to book the place; the availability calendar doesn’t always work.
Leave a review. Share your experience with a short review after the stay. It will help the fellow travelers to choose the right place to stay!
