Have you noticed any differences when you first arrived in Philadelphia?
I know, there are lots of distinguishing things in this city, but one thing that capture your eyes…
Murals!
When I first visited Philly a few weeks ago, first I surprised by the gigantic American flag mural, and the series of street arts with amazing detail… that surprised me again. What a different view! So I thought I have to look around more for these amazing street arts on my next visit. That thought leads me to participate “Ale and Art Mural tour of Philadelphia.” There is no need to participate the tour to see the mural, but we wanted to do it because we wanted to know more about it and wanted to hear background stories.
Ale and Art Mural tour includes two free drinks at Field House and followed by walking tour of murals and two different historic bars in west Philly. One of the bar, McGillian’s Alehouse is older than City Hall! I’m not saying this tour is amazing because of the beer. it’s just a small portion of the reason that why I enjoyed it so much. 🙂
There are more than 3,000 pieces around the town. Not only this is amazing to look at, but also I liked murals because it has done by citizens like you and I. It was not a part of expensive city project by fancy people, or not a commercial purpose. It was just another way to express people of Philadelphia.
I didn’t see all 3,000 murals, but here are photos of murals I saw yesterday. Amazing detail, amazing!
*Special Thanks to Convention & Visitor’s Bureau of Philadelphia for their warm hospitality, and Mural Art organization.
Good beer and street art. The best combination!

I love the murals in Philly, they’re some of what I miss most about the city! There’s a great one just blocks from my old apartment that I used to walk by every day on my way to work. Hope you had a great time in the city. I’m glad to hear you enjoyed the tour! 😉
