Lucky coincidences I’ve met in Hong Kong

.

.

We travelers love coincidences, right? At least a good one.  Some say like in a movie “You know I hate surprises.” But I never met one in real life.

.

Serendipity. It is my motto of travel. Travel is a huge pile of Serendipity, and we all making it higher.

.

Now, I introduce you some of my best serendipity I’ve met in Hong Kong.

.

.

1. Cable car to nowhere

.

Buddha’s birthday of 2010 is not very sunny. I expected dazzling sunshine of Hong Kong but it was not there. However because of that I’ve met some lucky coincidences.

Like I always say, there’s no law for travel in great weather only. What is great, really?

/

World’s biggest sitting Buddha is in Hong Kong. Second day, cable car to Buddha is on my first place to go. Ngong Ping 360 Cable car is connecting to Giant Buddha and Ngong Ping village. It was little foggy day but Giant Buddha! Can’t give up to meeting with him.

.

Beautiful Lantau Island

.

Have you ever been on a complete white space, feels like floating?  This is my exotic experience of cable car to nowhere, or heaven of you will.

.

Cable car to.. where?

.

It stared okay. Beautiful Lantau island was there, pretty little airport looked great, and beach I wanted to see. But it was getting whiter.. what happen?

.

I know it was a kind of foggy day but not this much! We were heading toward to giant white thing! Oh no..

.

Fog! oh no..

.

Then I experienced the most mysterious thing. Can you imagine you just floating in this massive fog? It was a cable car with 4 side of window. Imagine. No slight silhouette of anything. It was a literally cable car to nowhere.

.

There could be anything end of that rope.

.

Cable car ride was about 15 mins. We spend about 10 mins in the fog. How would you feel? It was the most exotic thing I’ve ever met. It was totally blew my mind!!

.

Ngong Ping cable car has a Crystal car too, it’s your choice. Pay 50HK more to experience Crystal cable car. We were too terrified to take one but at that moment I thought it would be so much better in a Crystal cable car in this complete fog.

.

Who could experience this such thing?

.

.

2. Chace to take my favorite photography among all Hong Kong pictures.

.

Part 1.

.

This continues with cable car to nowhere.

.

As soon as we got off the cable car we could feel mist through whole body. Everything we saw is blurry shaped. When you not clean your camera lenses or wearing steamed up glasses.  But on the way of Ngong Ping viallage, I could capture the favorite picture I took in Hong Kong.

.

Buddha I know you are there. Happy Birthday!

.

All the decorations, it shine with lanterns probably. Pastel color decorations are quite impressive. Lotus lantern of Korea is usually primary color, like red, green, or yellow. These pastel tone decorations were looking very lovely with this fog.

.

Lovely decorations for Buddha

.

Thank you for making me have my moment.

.

.

Now I wonder at this point, is this what people live in England feels many days a year? I’ve heard England is a master of fog, if you are an English then you have to watch the weather cast before you climb! 🙂

.

.

Part 2.

.

Second moment related to fog happened when I was on Star Ferry.

.

It was the most touristic thing I’ve done in Hong Kong, and the view was amazing.

.

Skyscraper of Hong Kong. We heard of it once in a while, right? Wonderful thing about Hong Kong skyline is every building is very unique. (This is coming from my other article. Hole that thought!)

.

So Star ferry started to move, it just just short ride to Hong Kong island.

.

Look at the sky!

.

Look at the tallest building! Tip of this building is in the cloud right now. And all the lights made sky so .. indescribable.

.

Looks like UFO was hovering over Hong Kong.

.

From Hong Kong island, from wider view, it became more beautiful.

.

Hong Kong Skyscraper.

.

Look at the buildings under the sky. Top tip of two tall buildings are absorbed in the sky.

.

It is like very unique sunset.

.

Hong Kong skyscraper, beautiful no matter what!

.

.

Part 3.

.

On our way to Star Ferry, a guy ask Meghan about on the way to the market. During that time I looked up, and there it was. A shot of the day.

.

The moment.

.

Beautiful, don’t you think?

.

.

3. Shopping spree in the grocery store

.

When Meaghan visited my place, we looked my travel album and she saw my love toward to Weetbix. As soon as I arrived at her place in Hong Kong she handed a box of weetbix to me! I was so happy. You could not imagine.

.

Another unique coincidence I’ve met in Hong Kong happened in grocery store.

.

Under influence of ruled by England, Hong Kong has mixed culture, race and architecture. You can see that in a grocery stores too. You can find many English products and western food. I knew the relationship between England and Hong Kong but never expected found Western life style in Hong Kong.

.

There you are!

.

Backpacking through New Zealand and cook myself the whole trip makes me craving for lots of foods, especially Weetbix. I bought a box after box, eat for breakfast every morning. We do have plenty of serial but weetbix is special, and impossible to find. Then we reunited at Hong Kong! Who knew?

.

That’s not all. Cadbury chocolate! You may remember my trip to Cadbury factory. I am not a sweet tooth. I don’t eat candy. But Cadbury factory tour changes me. I still don’t eat a lot but I miss them sometimes. Unique collection of Cadbury chocolate. Hm~

.

Cadburys!

/

I got white chocolate, which is the best I’ve ever tasted from grocery store and one from Meaghan, Rocky road, and Mars bar. Still it is not the same collection I’ve seen in New Zealand but it is more than I expected. All these junk food can resolve my stresses. Unhealthy? Oh who cares! 🙂

.

Another thing.. can’t miss this.

.

Fish and chips

.

Recognize? I’m proudly say I reunited with fish and chips in Stanely, the least and the best Hong Kong-y place in Hong Kong.

/

The best one I had was in a middle of no where during driving North island of New Zealand. There is no descent chip in Korea, so you can imagine how happy I was. This giant plate made me super happy.

.

Talk about junk food.. I confess. I’m writing with Cadbury white chocolate, ‘dream’ on it.

.

.

.

Even  after confrontation of fog, I realized again, I am such a traveler. I don’t get board easily. I have ability to make everything productive. In my opinion this is a very good quality for a traveler.

.

.

Short trip to Hong Kong. I have so much fun, have done and seen many, most of all I feel I am growing with all these experiences.

.

./

.

.

My unique way of enjoy Hong Kong. Loved it!

.

.

.

*Very typical Hong Kong experience.. comming up! Tune in. 🙂
