Itinerary of short trip to Seoul, 3rd day.

3rd day.

Country side –> My place –> Krispy Kreme

.

.

Han riverWe decided to go a little field trip to country side of Seoul.

Where to? A friend of my mom, let’s call her Mrs.Seo for convenience, has a rest stop/restaurant in Yangpyeong and she cooks mean Korean food so I recommended there to be our getaway.

.

.

Thanks for Seoul Metro system, we can visit other cities by subway. It’s much cheaper and easier to use than train.

Her restaurant is just in front of Asin station, subway Middle line.

You can transfer to Middle line in Wang sip ri station, subway line 2 & 5.

Here’s a tip. The Middle line does not come very often, about 2 or 3 trains per hour, so it is better check the time line of train before you leave.

Asin station (just few stations before Young mun, the last station) is about 55 mins away from Wang sip ri.

.

.

My family and Mrs.Seo’s family are very close since 20 years ago, so my mom and I visit here for our little getaway from Seoul. This place is just beside of Han river. Not the same one in Seoul city, it is the upper region of Han river.

She cooked Bibimbab for Meaghan. Bibambab is one of the most popular Korean food for visitors. Meaghan may heard of this in her plane on the way here, and she heard the name as ‘blahblahblap’ something like that. So it was “Blahblahblap or Fish?” She choose fish, naturally. Yeah, I can see how it sounded like that.

.

.

Bibimbab, Pork and Soy sauce soup

.

.

The dish in the middle is 제육볶음. Pork cooked with red pepper sauce and vegetables.

And the hot pot is 된장찌개 which is Korean bean sauce soup. Cooked with tofu, a green pumpkin, pepper, and many other  vegetables. And like I told, look at all the side dishes! Korean restaurant is generous or what?

.

.

We loved it! Meaghan was satisfied with Blahblahbob with proper name. 🙂

Looked around the area and store, since we are in store Meaghan asked me to introduce some of Korean snacks. I actually wrote about this once.

.

.

Among many great snacks Meaghan chose to eat two, rice chip and corn chip. It is not the chip you all know, think and crispy. Those are crispy but not thin layer.

Left one is ‘Ssal ro byul’, made of rice and right one is ‘Bbung so ri’ , made of corn.

.

Few of Korean snacks

.

Looks like corn pops?

The one in the right is seems a lot like “corn pops” in States. Do you know? I have to find one when I visit States!

.

We ate the one in left on the train on our way home, Meaghan said it doesn’t have much taste but is addictive!

.

One of my favorite!

After the supper, Mrs.Seo said there’s a botanic garden near here and it’s kind of famous. On the way to her schedule she dropped us off at this Botanic Garden.

Korea is really beautiful this time of year usually, but seems like Spring comes late in everywhere in the world this year. So even we were there first week of April, there’s nothing to see besides Han river.

.

Han river

.

I am very sorry to admit but we agreed this is the worst botanical garden ever! Yes.. wonderful Korea does have the worst botanical garden.

.

Sad for dead plant..

.

However we did have some fun of our own. There’s a playground with weird looking equipment. Looks like seesaw but no saddle, and there’s chain… What?

We did our own way.. and this was the most fun play ground in history! We had blast! Yeah even we are in the worst botanical garden ever but creating some fun with your good friend counts big.

.

Weird looking but the must fun playground ever!!

.

We walk back to subway station and head home to my place.

My friend visit my country, then she have to see where I live.

During train took us to home we had nice deep nap. Oh man that helped us.

At my place, Meaghan got to see The epic of Souvenir 🙂

.

Fried chicken and beer is really popular meal here too so I introduced one and we looked through my travel photo albums. Relaxing last night.

.

.

The last stop with Meaghan is Krispy Kreme. 🙂 I told you this place is going to be every itinerary. 🙂

.

1st Krispy Kreme in Asia

.

I didn’t know this one in my neighborhood is 1st Krispy Kreme in Asia. Impressive!

.

Aaanyhow, this is our last day together in Seoul. Took back for last 3 days and it was pretty fun. We did many fun stuff and most importantly we had fun ourselves.

.

.

It’s good to have a visitor in my city and make an itinerary. It is like Janice (@Solotraveler) said, such an eye opener! You can see your familiar neighborhood differently, get to know better.

.

.

Make your own itinerary for your city! It is fun and educational. I know I did!!
