Letter from Yeosu

Leaving Yeosu

With Admiral Lee's invention replica

There is the place like this, gives you more powerful feeling when you leave than when you arrive. I’ve been here few years ago, dragged by powerful feeling toward to Admiral Lee, the greatest navy man of all time. I’ve read so many books about him and he was a great inventor as well. His steps are hidden in all over the Yeosu, and I enjoyed that.

This time, I went to Geomun island which is a half way to Jeju island (Guess how far down this is), and look around Yeosu, following Admiral Lee’s step. View from the top of the Jinnam gwan was just breath taking. I literally took my breath in. In the Lee Sunshin (it’s his full name) square, I read his stories and saw the view of Yeosu. And I thought ‘I have to comeback.’ The beauty point of Southern sea side of Korean peninsula is all of those islands. Yeosu is one of the ‘Dadohae National park’ which means National park with many islands. I’ve been few on west sea and south sea but nothing is like this view. Culture, history, scenery, food, and people all these are making me promise to coma back here.

Yeosu is a city of EXPO 2012, and I want to be here before that all happened. I am not sure how they will change but I want to see all the beauty before it changes. Fancy and convenience are not what I want to see.

Yeosu has definitely strong value in tourism but I don’t think I am all wrapped around it by just that. It grows on me because of my nationality. It’s gorgeous enough to make me to come back twice already and it’s mw own country. That makes me feel proud and joy.

My goal this year is travel more in Korean and island hop. For that, I have to come back to beautiful Dadohae National Park to explore more. I still have 3,300 islands to go!
