My 2015 Year in Review: Photographing Around the World

Photo Essay of 2015

Last year was full of interesting experiences in my photography career. I traveled to 15 countries and a countless amount of cities, towns, natural reserves, and peculiar places. I explored one of the world’s most isolated islands, followed the footsteps of the Incas, drove through the lonely but lively Queensland’s Outback, hiked in the driest desert in the world, photographed my way through Scottish Highlands, and crossed the United States from Virginia to California. I think the great places, characteristic people, memorable foods, and all the emotions from the experiences are hard to be captured in snapshots. But I try. Sometimes I succeed. That’s the challenges and joys of a photographer’s life. I hope these photos can deliver the stories and emotions like you are standing in the middle of the scene, listening their stories.

The Swedish word ‘fika’ means taking a coffee break, but it is actually more than that. Asking someone for fika is a way of meeting casually, and that often involves coffee and pastry. There is no shortage of bakeries and coffee shops in Stockholm. From the traditional cinnamon bun to cardamom buns to saffron bread, the list of Swedish baked goods goes long. Make sure to enjoy a fika like locals!
