✪ Room: I stayed in a private double with shared bathroom. The room and the bed was not quite enough for two people. But the shared balcony offered a great view of the city.

Reykjavik Backpackers made my experiences better. A few of us who met at the hostel decided to take a day trip around Reykjanes peninsula, and went out to see the Northern Lights. It was because Reykjavik Backpackers was a great place to meet fellow travelers. Its atmosphere attracts people. I think this is what makes a hostel ‘great’. I like different places for different reasons, and this is a kind of place I enjoy when I want to hangout.
Amenities
It is a simple hostel. The room was rather small and bed wasn’t the most comfortable, but there was a plenty of places to hang out. And again, this was the cheapest place in town. Wi-Fi works in the lobby and up to the second floor, and there was a small computer room with a couch. The kitchen in the fourth floor was not the biggest or the cleanest but it helped me to prepare my meals everyday. I made the best out of the kitchen! Just like I explained in the post: Why Iceland is Better in Winter, don’t worry about the heating; you can make the room as hot as you want. The heater in the room works very well and the hot water in the shower is unlimited. The bar in the hostel sells the second cheapest beer in town during the happy hour and runs different activities every night. Also one welcome drink is included in the room price. Not a bad way to welcome travelers! Basically, it’s hard to get a better deal then this place. It has the best value for the price.
Travel Deals
Reykjavik Backpackers are working with several travel related companies in Iceland. You can get a discount on a rental car and several other tour deals around the country. Also they have another branch in The staff are friendly and helpful. They weren’t afraid of giving us their opinion about the stuff we were wondering. The honest opinion is always appreciated.
The Good and Bad
The best and the worst things about Reykjavik Backpacker was its location. Because it is located in the center of the city, it makes everyone easy to walk around the city. The big supermarket was just two blocks away, and there were many bars around the hostel. However, because it is located on the main street, it’s hard to avoid the noise from the street. I couldn’t sleep a few nights because of the loud music from a club nearby. Thursday to Sunday are widely known party night in Iceland. It’s give and take.
