Blue Pumpkin in Siem Reap

What do you think when someone tells you ‘I’m going to Siem reap’?

Angkor wat? Yes, a valid point. Tomb raider? Yes another good point.

Angkor archaeology park is definitely the top point of Siem reap, I have rather extra ordinary-but the best suggestion.

When you go to Siem Reap, make sure you see Angkor archeology park, all the markets, and the minty towel.

There is the place where backpacker’s heaven in the middle of Siem reap. Free Wi-Fi, world’s greatest watermelon juice, sweet as ice cream and white-dry-clean couch to crash on. Top of all that, there is the best, minty towel. Booya! Yes I dare say the best. This magical place is, Blue Pumpkin.

Blue pumpkin is quite famous place among backpackers especially to the ones who travel with laptop. I also went there for breakfast and a little snack for Angkor wat expedition but didn’t went up the second floor where all the magic happens.

It was the day I went to see sunrise at Angkor wat and went to a big circle to all three major parts in Angkor Archeology Park, up since 4:30 morning. I had few hours of nap right besides of the pool at the hostel, and Tim, Patrick, Manu who are the funniest gang I’ve ever been with, and I  went out for dinner. After dinner we were looking for something sweet. Then Patrick asked us have we ever been to Blue pumpkins, and we said yes. But we didn’t know there’s the magical second floor! We said all about his first day there, how comfortable he was and how he well rested there. Mmmm!

Yes so we went there and Oh, My, God. The white wonderland. Who knew there’s this kind of place in the middle of Cambodia for god sakes. It’s natural to soak on sweat in Cambodia but we didn’t that night, and yet the white couch looks just too good to seat on. Awww.. that’s the feeling. White, dry, crunch sheet felt so, so good. While we were scoping through – and there was just too many great choices!! – they brought us the towel, smell like mint fresh.

Aww.. Yes, that is heaven. Fresh minty towel felt amazing against our sun burnt body and mosquito bites. This is the moment I could say ‘Life is good.’ in a while. With amazing travel companions, sharing minty towel. If you shared minty towel at Blue pumpkins, you can assure that person is your forever friend because you won’t forget it!

This night, is the funniest day I could remember. Crews at Blue Pumpkins might hate us because we were so noisy but I can’t remember that day. That’s what happen when you with the right people. Tim wasn’t stop eating, Manu couldn’t resist herself because of Tim, were taking hilarious photos, and drinking wine.

We asked another towel and there was a huge debate on that between us, waitresses and the manager. The manager had to deny it because that was almost closing time but we kept asking asking and asking. Finally he gave up and we got to have another batch of towel. On the lap, on the head, on the face… mmm

This day is all about minty, sweet, hilarious, and impromptu. Who knew Siem Reap is going to be the most memorable town other than Angkor wat?

Because of many reason, that day was really significant in my Siem Reap trip. Many more stories to tell other than Tomb raider temple. Unexpected pleasure, serendipity, is the reason why we can’t resist put ourselves out and keep going. Angkor wat was amazing but I got fonder memory in Siem reap.

Now I’m good because it’s -7 degC out side but when summer heat hits me, I think I can’t resist to have a minty towel or two!
