explora provides not only comfortable place to stay, but also unique experiences. explora believes in power of experience, and that’s the main purpose of the company for last 20 years. explora introduce the travelers to the more remote areas of South America through meticulously planned exploration programs.

Explorations

The explorations are what make explora unique. They want the travelers to interact and engage not only with logic, but also with senses, emotions and physical activity. All properties together, explora have developed over 3.600km (2.236mi) of exploration routes, set into over 100 different explorations on foot, horseback, bicycle or boat.

In Atacama, there are more than 40 explorations you can do on foot, bicycle or horseback, with different intensities and duration, allow us to explore the world’s driest desert in a way never before seen. explora Atacama has its own stables and horses, which have been bred for the particular altitude and geography of the Atacama region.

Many of the explorations are quite exclusive. The Puritama Natural Reservoir is owned by explora, and is part of their conservation program. explora travelers have exclusive access to a private hotspring-pool within the reservoir. There is also a secluded spot for sunset watching in Valle de la Luna that’s only open for exlora guests. You don’t have to worry about taking a photo without the crowd. The exploration routes are keep changing. The guides are constantly trying to discover new ways of improving the existing explorations and creating new ones: one of a kind, and off the beaten track.

Food

Food is made from locally produced ingredients and recipes.

Observatory

explora Atacama has its own in-house observatory, equipped with a professional telescope, the largest in its kind in the country.

Quincho experience

At explora Atacama, they hold the Quincho experience, which consists on a traditional roasted lamb barbeque with assorted, locally produced meals such as Quinoa salad. As well as the meal itself, travelers enjoy a presentation of local music and dance presentations.

Sustainability

explora Atacama works with local communities as part of the Sustainable Development program, which also includes a series of environmental practices to minimize their presence in the area.

Guides

The guides are the fundamental part of explora. In Atacama, the guides are expert at geology, astronomy, history, geography, and local mythology. They are more than guides; they are the local experts and travel companions. All explora guides have Wilderness First Responder (WFR) certification, which guarantees that they have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide assistance to people in remote areas.
