Meeting Bedouin people in Wahiba Sands of Oman
Wahiba Sands is a region of desert in Oman, located in between Muscat and Sur. As a desert enthusiast, I was quite excited to see Wahiba Sands in Oman in Focus Photography Tour itinerary. There are several desert camps that welcome visitors with simple but comfortable setting. Driving on the sand dunes with 4WD is always thrilling. It reminded me of the four-day driving/camping trip I did in Namibia last year.
It is also one of the rare places you can meet Bedouin tribe. They live near the desert camps in Wahiba Sands, living by their traditional lifestyle and preserving the culture. It was the only time we were openly allowed to take photos of the Bedouin women in Oman. The Omani women’s face mask is quite fascinating. I’ve never seen anything like this before. After exploring the sand dunes over the sunset, we had a pleasure to enjoy the traditional song and dance of Bedouin people.
Wish I had more time to explore the different parts of the deserts, but we saved the mystery for our next adventure.
