Campo dei Fiori, the oldest functioning market in the city, is a part of everyday life of Romans. Romans, and Italians in general cherish what they eat. Getting locally grown produces, in a season, is very important. You’ll find different kinds of producers in Campo dei Fiori in due to the seasons. Romans come here to buy fresh produce, cheese, and meat for the meals. Not just for the food, you can also find the numerous kinds of olive oil, balsamic vinegar and spreads. You can taste some of the products and decide what to buy.

The name can be translated to ‘Market of flowers’. The name originated from the time when pilgrims passed through Rome. Campo dei Fiori was along the way of their path, and the pilgrims used to buy flowers to show their respect to the church. Nowadays Campo dei Fiori is an important local market, and it turns into a lively outdoor restaurant at night.
