Runaway Photo: It’s All about the People

There are so many reasons why I loved my time at the Namib Desert. Because of my special affection for deserts, it fulfilled my dream to be at one of the oldest places on earth. Also, the scenery was phenomenal. I would’ve been happy no matter what, but what emphasize the joy of the trip was the people I was with. I would be totally lost in this endless sand dunes, first of all, and I would have been bored after a day or two. As it was one of the Pre-Summit Adventures of 2013 ATWS, the group was a mix of delegates, media, staff, and Namibian locals who ran the tour. Different nationalities of course.

Travel is all about the people and the memories, it always is. When people ask me ‘Where is your favorite destination?’, the answer depends on what is the meaning of ‘favorite’. It can be solely about the uniqueness destinations, but it mostly is related to personal affection. I love the country New Zealand dearly because of course, it’s beautiful, but it was the place where I learned to be independent for the first time. Iceland in winter was special because I saw the Northern Lights. I liked Poland because I was surprised by the hidden kindness of people. It’s all about the associating memories.

The six-day camping trip to the Namib Desert was completed with the fun and energetic people. My throat almost gave up because I laughed so hard. I can’t remember when I laughed this much in a short period of time. Also, it’s hard not to be close after 5 days without a shower on the hot African desert.
