Yay, I’m a winner!
While I was traveling to Ngong Kiew, a remote village in Laos, the winner of 36th Photo Roulette is announced, and I’m the one. What a great news! I have to thank to the poor little chickens at Gaotian Market in China.
The theme for last round was ‘Depth of a filed’. Check out the fine submissions.
I’m proudly announcing the theme of 37th round of Photo Roulette:
My Glorious Digital Nomad Moment.
Make us envious; show off the view of your office, your anti-cubicle work desk, your sweet photographing moment, and show us the most unique and the best place you’ve ever worked. Right now, I have a view of Nam Ou river in front of me.
*You don’t have to be a digital nomad to submit the photo. I meant whenever you went to vacation with your laptop, your short term work place with a view, the moment you worked location independently, anytime.*
This is me, working at a camping site with an open wifi in Maine, USA. The very fine moment as a digital nomad! I was working on the design of Runaway Juno that day, and I launched it that very spot. Does this photo make you envious? :)
The contest will run from 22 Feb to 29 Feb.
For those new to the process, Travel Photo Roulette is a rotating event open to bloggers and photographers and people generally interested in good work. See the rules below.
Contest Over View
Guidelines
- One submission per Blog (so sites that have 2+ authors only get one entry).
- Post processing is permitted, but photo altering (ie. photoshopping) is not.
- Abstract submissions welcomed as long as it fits within the interpretation of the chosen phrase. Remember, the hosting blogger chooses the winner, so if they cannot understand the submission, you might not win!
- Please try and keep your images medium-sized and web-optimized (around 600px).
- If you win, keep these in mind when choosing a new theme: * Keep phrases general so that all bloggers can participate. Specific items like “Eiffel Tower” should be avoided but rather made open-ended like “monuments.” For variety, it is okay to say focused things such as “monuments at night” which most of us have pictures of. Phrases can be generic ‘signs’, or abstract ‘religion’. * Abstract thoughts are appreciated, but keep it within the realm that all readers will understand. No “Kafka-esque”, or “Overlooking Creation”. Use something that is able to be interpreted by all.
- After 1 year, phrases can be reused, however new photos must be submitted.
- No obscene pictures or phrases allowed. Suggestive phrases and photography can be accepted, but please keep it within reason.
- Keep the ideas and photos fresh!
- Pictures from your entire portfolio are fair to submit. You do not have to take the photo within the week of the contest period to submit it.
- Most importantly, ALL PHOTOS MUST BE YOUR OWN.
- One last rule, since this is a competition for bloggers, we need you to be a blogger to be declared a winner. Sorry!
How to submit your photos
To enter in the Photo Roulette competition simply leave a comment below with a link to the image (whether Flickr, Picasa or your own site) and we will upload it to this post. Don’t forget to provide a brief description or caption for the photo so the viewers can get a little background as to what’s happening. Check back here throughout the week to see all the entries as they come in and feel free to comment on them. The contest runs for 7 days from today, with the submission date being Feb 22th , 2012 – 11:59 PM Feb 19th, 2012 (Wednesday thru Wednesday). The winner will be announced in the days after the deadline, and they will host round 38.

The following is a list of the previously played rounds of the game and the hosting blogger for each. This list also doubles as a winner’s table as each topic host won the preceding round! Indeed, I had many Glorious Digital Moments during my journey through South Africa, but probably the most unforgettable was… Writing on a terrace, sipping a cold bear and enjoying this spectacular scenery on the Wild Coast!

This is a view I have when working, as I am on the road alot in my current job. This view of the Grampians, in Western Victoria, Australia, sparks my wanderlust everytime! Such a great view!

It is my glorious digital nomad moment in Los Cabos. Each morning I would work from my balcony while the whales called me to come play. It was so glorious when the week came to an end, we extended our stay for 4 more nights!

Multitasking: Like most of us, I am working on a lot of projects and trying to get a lot done in a little time. My photo was taken on a cruise ship while my son was about three years old. We are leaving port near La Paz, Mexico and while I am his human pillow, I catch myself in the mirror while gazing out to sea looking for my next great photo.

This is me writing a blog post, while waiting for a bus on a chilly morning on New Zealand’s South Island after hiking on a glacier the day before!
From Giulia @Giuliaccia

This is me working on some photos during a break in Breuil-Cervinia, Italian Alps. As you can see, there are digital nomads in the mountains too! The beauty of the landscape here doesn’t make me miss the sea at all. The pyramid-shaped mountain on the right side of the photo is Mount Cervino, 4478 meters high, on the border with Switzerland. My location is at 2100 meters at the moment. From the Pyramids to the Alps!
From Clare @Clareappleyard

It was taken on a mobile phone (I wanted to upload to FB and Twitter to make you all jealous) so there was no flash and it’s all a bit grainy. But, nonetheless, I hope you all enjoy the view of Table Mountain in Cape Town!

Luang Prabang was a good place for us digital nomads. I miss the Art house cafe! Thanks for the submission!
but Juno…what about those of us who are bloggers but not digital nomads????
You don’t have to be a digital nomad.
Have you ever been on a vacation with your laptop? I meant the ‘moment’.
got it! I’ll check my photo archives and see what I can find!
