I said it sometime before, I’m quite a musical buff. We don’t have a Broadway or anything but I enjoy Korea’s musical programs. There are intimate theaters we can interact with actors on the stage. They actually give you something, like bananas at a show about vegetable store, or sometimes actually rain on the stage.
I find really amusing then huge, fancy theaters.
.
This is one of my favorite itinerary for my friends who is visiting and staying. In those little theater, most of shows are produced by our own. Naturally it contains with many cultural stuff.
.
.
I introduced with this shows to my friends and they had no idea show is that cheap and this fun. But you know what? I only watch one show over and over again with them.
.
.
.
First Meaghan visited, since we both love musicals, I arranged a show night. I picked my favorite one and she trusted in me with the choice. It was ‘Finding Kim Jonguk’ I love this show because of the idea of first love and how she dealt with it. Some say it’s stupid way but it was pretty understandable for me. At least I thought I did.
.
.
Then after the show Meaghan said “I know why you love this show. The girl is you!’
.
.
Is she?
Well not the first love part.
.
.
Now it’s time to tell you all about the show.
It is a story of a girl finds her very first love, Kim Jonguk.
A girl, say, Jane, is a journalist and wants to be a war reporter than weekend getaway article writer. She is a brave and adventurous person.
She’s growing up with her farther, an army men and he always told her there is Mr.Right out there for her. ‘Destiny to be with you, you can see some shooting stars and hear a bell ringing when you meet him.’
.
.
.
So she believes that and finally met this wonderful man-Jonguk in India, when she lie to her dad to go to study in sophomore year but she traveled around India instead. Start with the plane to India they constantly bump into each other. So they finally end up together in same hostel. Jane see shooting star, hear a bell ringing. When they leave India separately, promised to meet at the airport but that never happened.
.
Now she’s thirty something but never dating and says ‘it’s because I am still in love with my first love.’
.
So her dad is up to find her Jane’s Mr.Right and hires Mark for that.
And story goes on, Mark and Jane travel all around the country to find Jonguk. On the way to this long process, they realize destiny is not far away or hard to find, just the one right next to you. True love is the one who is being there for you, not a prince charming in thousand miles away.
.
.
There is a huge turnout at the end of it but I don’t want to spoil that for you, whoever might watch this show.
.
I am quite a romantic person, so I love this show so much because of the idea of destiny. Love is timing, couldn’t agree more. But now I know, it’s because of travel, before romantic. One number is about India and one song actually has a ‘Himalaya’, ‘Amazon’, and ‘travel’ in the lyrics.
It realizes me life tells itself what I am into, and what I love.
.
.
It all connect the dots, or find the dots to connect.
And I’m pretty sure many of dots are on the world map.
.
Or, in my backpack.

Sounds like a great show. And it’s about a young woman with a passion for travel and journalism– very relevant!

I love this post. It just goes to show that stories and theater, no matter what country they are in, can impact people. Thanks for sharing this. I was captivated reading it.
